page faults for initial 8Mbytes of kernel virtual map.

Right, that was a dump of a "problematic" (ie 4kb pagefaults on
8Mbyte pinned region) kernel.

I told mapin_ram() to start at KERNELBASE + 8Mb. 

But, as you said, thats not necessary.
